Flu season typically begins in October and lasts until May, though most illnesses usually occur between December and February. Each season, tens of millions of people get the flu. During the 2024-2025 flu season, there were at least 43 million confirmed flu cases, according to end of year estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Despite those high numbers, there remain a lot of myths and misunderstandings surrounding the flu virus.
