How do I read a lab result in AskMD?

Each lab result shows: • Test name (e.g., "Blood Glucose," "LDL Cholesterol") • Your value (e.g., 95 mg/dL) • Unit (e.g., mg/dL) • Reference range (e.g., 70–100 mg/dL) — the range considered normal • Date the test was performed

If your value falls outside the reference range, it does not automatically mean something is wrong — context matters. Discuss any concerns with your doctor.
